Black Owls sound has been defined as Mennonite Glam Punk. With influences ranging from vintage Stones to Talking Heads, Clash, MC5, Bowie, Animals, Mott & the Hoople to Devo & the Ramones. Lyrically reminiscent of Jim Carroll or Lou Reed, there is a sophisticated undertone to the fabled trailer witches, silver morons, astronauts of nothing, and altered statesmen that frequent the verse. Stylistically, the music swells, rages, stops and starts on \'floor tom-centric\' beats and punk-surf-blues guitars. Clash-esque anthems flow into elongated hypnotic jams, melding the classic stadium sound to a garage band attitude.
