The Rudy Lopez Quintet (RL5) remains inspired by Rock & Roll, Blues and Funk. With this musical background in it's sound, the lyrics are layered with the satirical and unique vision of the world through the eyes of X Spunj (Gaston Reddy) and the band. Biography: Five Great Plains musicians formed a band in 1972. First on the music scene in Minneapolis with 'glitter' Rock & Roll-they migrated to a more classic form of Rock & Roll. After a 2001 reunion on stage, the Rudy Lopez Quintet was reactivated as the RL5 featuring all original compositions of Gaston Reddy and the band. Their first CD entitled 'RL5 @ 50' was released in 2003, and to follow, 'Songs In The Key Of X' released in July 2005, recorded at Natural Sound Studio and Studio X, in MN and Studio-Rudio in Las Vegas, NV. Band members reside in California, Nevada, Minnesota and Maine, communicating and recording primarily with the use of the internet, while developing Studio-Rudio capabilities in Las Vegas and Minneapolis. While remaining true to their Rock & Roll roots, the band draws it's collective inspiration from the music and lyrics of Gaston Reddy, aka X Spunj (with contributions from Raoul Olson), and musical direction from the fabulous Teddy Jee, Master of the Keyboards, Rudy Lopez and the Speedy One, Ed Chino. The RL5 currently working on their third CD, 'Meat The Dickman's' due out this year.
