In the '70s, Grover Washington, Jr.. was the torchbearer of great saxophone players who continuously traversed the lines between high art and danceable commerce. With Live at the Bijou (originally released as a double LP in '77 and out of print for nearly a decade), Grover took his music to the setting of an intimate Philly venue, a forum where he and his super-tight septet introduced 8 new originals, including the hit "Summer Song" and the now sought-after "Funkfoot."
