Description

Telling on Trixie is a New York City rock band created from a partnership of opposites- the introverted guitarist and the extroverted lead singer who bring out the best in one another to create something bigger than themselves. On their self-titled, debut album, you can hear the seamless result of two very different people joining together to create music with skill and passion - and it's music that is already substantially impacting listeners. This band tells you it's OK to sass your ex, to want out of the bad relationship, to not do your homework, to make mistakes, to let go and have some fun. Even the loudest of guys sometimes feels like hiding; even the shyest of guys can play rock music on huge stages for rowdy fans. The debut album has spun on hundreds of stations nationwide, ranking as high as #2 on several stations' College Music Journal Top 30 charts. Among the first to spin the album was Jonathan Clarke of Q104.3 in New York, KWSS FM in Phoenix and Mondo Blu in Spain. Their exposure blossomed with their first video, for "Halfway Back to Sane," featuring America's Next Top Model star Jade Cole. The video is featured on music video programming worldwide, including upcoming rotation on MTV's LOGO channel. Several nationwide festival, club and college dates are supporting their debut release, including: CMJ Music Marathon, the Cincinnati Midpoint Music Festival, Charlotte's MidAtlantic Music Festival, NYU Relay for Life 2008, and Red Gorilla Showcase during SXSW 2008. Within 6 months, Budweiser had named Telling on Trixie a Premiere Band, featuring them on Budweiser.com. "Playing this on the air RIGHT now at WMHB...Sounds SOOOO good when you crank up the in-studio humungo speakers. YEAH!!!!!" - WMHB, Maine's Alternative Music Station 'Truly spine-tingling at times...there is enough soul in the vocals and depth in the songwriting that these songs do come off as a little bit more than just catchy anthemic rock, making Telling on Trixie a band to keep an eye on in the future.' Soul of RocknRoll.com "Telling on Trixie is what MPMF is all about - creative and smart." Sean, Director of Cincinnati's Midpoint Music Festival 'In a short time this band has already begun to build an impressive musical pedigree. C.W. Ross, Indie Music Stop.com 'I really love this band. This is so much better than Avril Lavigne's latest, not to mention less melodramatic. Nicoletto has the presence that many classic singers have. He reminds me a great deal of Paul Rodgers when it comes to versatility and soulfulness but that shouldn't downplay the band as they have ably created a well rounded backdrop for his voice. If you are looking for something new that will instantly grab you and make you want to sing along then you should check this band out.' Infuze Magazine "#3 on our CMJ Top 30 and the best we've heard in years." WMHB "CMJ is upon us. Amidst all the mayhem, a few are worth checking out. Telling on Trixie is one of them." Indie Sounds New York 'A solid combination of crunchy rock, power pop, and organ-fed soul, Telling on Trixie's debut album comes out roaring with 'Halfway Back to Sane' and 'Dumb Boy.' The two songs powerfully describe the two sides of the heartache coin. Derek Nicoletto's vocal flair puts one in mind of soulful rock singers like David Bowie and Chris Robinson. He sings with heart and soul and you can still understand all the words...the band's best work is excellent and it's no surprise these New York indie rockers are getting themselves some TV licensing spots and prestigious gigs. ' - Lee Sobel, Indie Roundup.
