Description

Soul Survivor was recorded at Sonic Ranch in Texas backed by the Rays, his studio band with songs written by Johnny Rawls and Bob Trenchard. All original songs except a killer version of the O.V. Wright Classic Eight Men, Four Women. Johnny was O.V.'s music director while Johnny was still in his twenties and kept the band together to open for and back Little Johnny Taylor after O.V.'s death in 1979. He has been a solo artist for 20 years now. Johnny's last CD, Memphis Still Got Soul (CFR 8), is nominated for 2012 BMA Soul Album of Year, title song for Song of Year and Johnny for Male Soul Artist of Year.
