Description

The follow up to the late 2003 debut Songs from the Floor, the Boltsmokers take a turn down the roads that inspired "Hydroradio" - particularly the northeastern United States in and around the Poconos Mountains. During a tour through the region in 2004, Mark McKinney was inspired by music that was being broadcast from an area radio station deep in the mountains, the first hydro-powered radio station in the United States. That music, combined with experiences from traveling and playing country barns to underground indie rock clubs from the west to east coasts, shaped the lyrics and music on "Hydroradio." Accompanied once again by Eric Lewis and Andy Ratliff, as well as Memphis long-timer Craig Yarbrough, the music stays rooted in the cross-section of musical stylings that always seem to collide and mix together in Memphis. Originally recorded in Easley studios, the recordings were lost in the fire that swept through the studio last year. The band pulled back together to catch it again, and "Hydroradio" is sure to please both the musical and the lyrical ear, and will likely have you singing along after one listening.
