On this debut outing of the unique "FOCUS" Trio, Grammy-nominated pianist Marc Cary brings into sharp focus his many influences - from deep indigenous world rhythms to hard bop to classical lyricism. Cary's imaginative key-work is famed from recording and touring with Stefon Harris, Betty Carter, Abbey Lincoln, Roy Hargrove and Wynton Marsalis, just to name a few. Recently named one of "the four most multi-dimensional keymen on the scene today" by DOWNBEAT magazine [April 06 issue], Cary is alternately percussive and subtle, animated and introspective, balancing energy and lyricism with a depth of personal expression that is rare. FOCUS, the Motema Music debut of Marc's Trio, introduces Marc's new sound, which he calls 'classicalindigenous jazz for the people'. Marc Cary will tour with "FOCUS" to support this release and will also continue to tour as a key member of Stefon Harris's "Blackout " whose debut CD peaked at #5 on Billboard in 2005. Digipak.
