In August of 1991, a black boy was killed by a car driven by a Hasidic Jewish man in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn. Based on true events, a black youth leader and an energetic Hasidic rabbi try to bring the polarized communities together after this tragic accident. During this time, two teens, Yudi Smith and T.J. Moses forge a friendship based on a mutual love of rap music and dance. Two groups that have suffered persecution throughout the centuries embrace tolerance and discover that progress is possible.
