You've got a stable of specially equipped licensed cars from the Bond universe that have been prepared with weapons and gadgets from MI6's infamous Q branch. 007 Racing for PlayStation delivers to game players a unique Bond experience that features over 15 missions of pursuit, evasion, protection, surveillance, and termination--all inspired by unforgettable moments from Bond films.Missions in 007 Racing take place within a new story line that's inspired by scenes and moments of the more memorable Bond films. Also, players will be assisted by--and pitted against--famous characters from Bond films. The game's multiplayer mode offers intense peer-to-peer combat racing. Product description Review Now, pay attention, 007: this game is the latest from the Bond consortium. Once again, Bond is entrusted with a number of surprising gadgets from Q branch. This game features a number of cars from the films, and sports the usual range of optional extras--machine gun, smoke screen, etc.--of course, all while you fight off a number of enemies in an array of different scenarios, and all of which have to be dealt with from your car. The opening scene is enough to warm up any Bond fanatic--a montage of some of Bond's finer moments in his fantastic automobiles. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to follow through in the game. The graphics look like very early PlayStation rendering, and offer very little by modern standards. The interlevel cinematics are a little more exciting, but serve only to dress down the gameplay. Control of the car is very simple, but, compared to other driving games like Driver, it does seem fairly unresponsive. You can cycle through the weapons that you collect to fight the foes that you meet on your mission. The missiles will lock onto targets, and the weapons are satisfyingly powerful. At the same time, you have to play hard to succeed; make no mistake, 007 Racing is no walk in the park. The two-player mode pits you against your friends in car-based standoffs. The two-player mode's split-screen interface makes the graphics very poor, but doesn't offer anything new. Overall, the game doesn't do justice, really, to the Bond sensation. If you're looking for a driving challenge, Driver would be a much safer bet. --Chris Hall -- Amazon.co.uk
