Description

Selena Cross, a redheaded Australian songstress, is gearing up to bring her sultry, sensuous blend of mature commercial pop to the States on her debut album Strip. The album leads with the title track and single, 'Strip,' a song whose meaning echoes of themes of introspection and discovery. 'I wanted to tell a story,' confides Selena. 'Strip' is me giving myself a pep talk saying 'it's time to shed your skin and give it all you've got!'' The song features an animated ragga verse by Jamaican dancehall toaster Junior P. 'We clicked as soon as we met and he REALLY connected with the lyrics. Together we came up with a direction and a beautiful part,' says Selena. Selena has given her all, showing the dedication that has allowed her to become the person she is. The singer overcame the hurdles of severe Dyslexia to finish high school and become a songwriter. Realizing that her art was ready for an audience, Selena took a few small possessions and her cat 'Jessie', moving from Adelaide, Australia to Melbourne. In her bags was a demo of her original songs that she began to use to seek out producers and musicians. Her voice and her songs were well received and within six months she was is in the studio living out her lifelong dream. The inimitable 12 songs on Strip attracted a string of influential producers and musicians. Selena credits Buzz Bidstrup (The Angels) as the album's producer, though the album also boasts work by Jack Jones, Peter Mazline (Boom Crash Opera, Natalie Imbruglia), and James Black (Paul Kelly, Mondo Rock). The single 'Strip' has additional production by Ian Faith (Neil Finn, Yothu Yindi). What followed were the kinds of credits of which most artists can only dream. Selena has appeared as a guest artist on the new album by Polestar, Till Eventide, Now Voyager, performing on two tracks, 'Transit' and 'Stellar Fields.' The talented Australian is planning a move to the United States upon Strip's release, where she can better support her Sarinjay debut through touring and promotion. With Strip, Selena Cross is destined to rise to international stardom.
