Description

The B-Side Prophets came to fruition during the Fall of 2006 when local Philadelphia songwriter TJ Leis presented a collection of his own work to the acoustic duo of Matt Kresge and Bernie Gillespie, better known as Philly's own Shady Groove. The fusion of TJ's melodic sensibility along with Bernie's incomparable ear for harmony immediately breathed new life into these songs. Having recently received the 'Best Guitarist of Philadelphia' accolade from the nationwide Emergenza festival in 2005, the addition of Matt's creative guitar work lifted the songs to an even higher musical plateau. It was clear that something musically special was unfolding before their ears. The addition of versatile drummer and friend Wyatt Patterson proved to be the final piece to the musical puzzle. Upon first listen, it becomes clear that The B-Side Prophets greatest asset is musical diversity and emphasis on harmonies. Drawing on styles ranging from everywhere from Reggae, Folk, Brazillian, Ska, Rock, Americana and more, the B-Sides eclectic mix of music and emphasis on melody quickly gained the attention of Philadelphia audiences.
